26 April 2014. Qatar wants to be important international hub or regional hub. The objective could be achieved as Hamad International Airport launch next week.The Qatar's state civil aviation authority said the construction has been delayed for almost one year. The Hamad International Airport is expected to start operation on May 2014.

Existing airport, Doha international airport handled 23 million passengers in 2013, while the new Hamad International Airport will handle 50 million passengers per year and possibly 2 million tonnes of cargo & logistics per year.
This new Hamad International Airport also including the development of airlines as well. Qatar Airways has growing rapidly in recent years, Qatar Airways expands 116 aircraft for 15 years since founded. Expecting more on hosting Qatar World Cup 2022, Hamad International Airport would be able to serve the participants and foreigner.
